Veterans With Vision is a coalition of Massachusetts veterans and veterans’ organizations whose mission is to help improve the lives of, and opportunities available to, our fellow veterans and their families. We view this mission as a continuation of our service to country, as well as a service to our fellow veterans.
Our members and leadership reflect the range of the US Armed Forces, as well as the broad spectrum of the American population. US Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps, as well as the Coast Guard and National Guard—all are represented on our Executive Committee.
Veterans are everywhere—drawing on our years of service, our training, and our commitment to country and community to make a positive impact. We contribute to society at every level—in children’s classrooms and corporate boardrooms, as business owners, construction workers, doctors, artists, engineers, and service employees.
But veterans also mirror our society in less positive ways— we are disproportionately affected by problems of mental health, disability, homelessness, un- and under-employment, substance abuse, and domestic violence.
The factors leading to this situation are complex, and are addressed with varying success by a patchwork of federal, state, and local agencies, as well as by a variety of publicly and privately funded non-profits.
This patchwork too often leads to confusion, redundancy, and inefficiency in the delivery of services to Massachusetts veterans—inhibiting veterans’ full return to, and participation in, civilian life.
Each veteran has his or her own needs and circumstances, and a “one-size-fits-all” approach has been ineffective in truly empowering veterans to thrive. We continue to struggle with vast, inefficient bureaucracies—whether for help with access to small business loans, healthcare, substance abuse counseling, vocational training, or addressing other concerns that factor into veterans’ ability to succeed.
Veterans With Vision helps veterans access the right resources at the right time to address their particular needs. Because we are veterans, because we’ve experienced the same systemic problems, Veterans With Vision is uniquely equipped to help.
